Community Radio Roots
Radio Pacific grew out of the community radio movement that swept Aotearoa in the 1980s, giving a voice to South Auckland — one of the most culturally diverse communities in New Zealand.
Voice of South Auckland
Through the 1990s, Radio Pacific established itself as the go-to station for South Auckland listeners, reflecting the rich Pacific Island, Māori, and multicultural communities that call the region home.
Expanding the Reach
The station expanded its programming to include more Pacific language content, music, and community news — becoming a vital link between communities and a platform for voices often unheard in mainstream media.
Digital Growth
Radio Pacific embraced digital broadcasting, reaching listeners beyond South Auckland through online streaming and social media, while staying true to its community-first mission.
Partnership with Radio Aotearoa
Radio Pacific joined the Radio Aotearoa network, combining the strength of a national broadcaster with deep local roots. The partnership ensures South Auckland continues to have a strong, independent voice on the airwaves.
